I Always Wanted An Older Sister!

My friend Allyson went through all of her clothes and passed some down to me and Madeline and this is just one of the many things I got! I love love love this floral print dress. I love getting hand-me downs, but I didn't grow up receiving any because I'm the eldest. But Allyson has become like an older sister to me and for that I'm very grateful. Its fun to have pretend older sisters that give you clothes!

I'm in LOVE with this pattern! So fun and summery!

Art Rocks!

The other day I was wearing a dress and someone asked, "What's the occasion?" The answer was that there was no occasion. Actually I normally wear a dress or a skirt, so the question caught me off guard a bit because anyone who has seen me for a least a week would know that I have some aversion to jeans and pants. But anyways, I got to thinking that maybe people think that I don't ever look casual. I think my version of casual is different from everyone else's. Casual to me is skirt+ tights, but for most that's "dressy." So today I put together a casual look. Take that onlookers. I'm not that weird.

I don't wear a lot of t-shirts, but this is one of my faves. I think its really clever. And I adore it.
Outfit Details:
Sweater- Urban Outfitters
Shirt- Bryce McCloud (a Nashville artist)
Shorts- Urban Outfitters
Shoes- Keds
I also broke out the trusty Keds that match the carpet that Madeline and I put down in our room. I don't know why, but it amuses me so that they are the same color! I guess, I really am weird haha.

Polka Dots!!!!!

I have a polka dot problem. As in, I own something like 6 polka dot dresses. My bedspread is polka dots. And now I own these polka dot tap shorts. Its okay though, admitting it is the first step...

Whenever I wear something with polka dots, I just know its going to be a great day! Hope your day is swell as well! (Hehe, that rhymed!)

One Fine Day

I feel like every post I make these days say boring phrases such as "the weather here is fab!" or "its just so beautiful outside." And I would like to apologize for my generalizations about the weather. Lets just from now on assume that any day I don't wear tights, is a beautiful day. There, that's taken care of now onto the outfit...

Sweater- Old Navy
Dress- Forever 21

Today has been the official test run of the lovely Saltwater Sandals and its true love. What a fun summer sandal! Anyways, today I spent my day at church, grabbing coffee with girlfriends, and catching up on homework. Later tonight I'm going to watch Madeline's show. Its actually a dress rehearsal, but I wanted to see it twice just for kicks!

Okay, funny thing. Well actually its not that funny, its just that I have ideas brewing in my head and I want to share them here. So for Cru we've had lots of mixers/parties and usually they are themed. So, my friends and I thought about how cool it would be if we had an old school theme. Like we could play music from the 50's and 60's and everyone could dress up and dance. I think its a brilliant idea. I mean, it sounds like my kind of party. Although, I guess that's my life every day...but it would be fun to share with everyone else! Just a few sunday thoughts from little ole me. Hope everyone had a delightful weekend!

When You Feel Just Like A Tourist

The weather here is absolutely divine! It doesn't feel like spring--it feels like a hot summer's day instead. So I took the opportunity to wear some new summer clothes that I bought over spring break.

Outfit Details:
Shirt- JcPenny
Skirt- Forever 21
Belt- Forever 21
Flats- Old Navy

How many circle skirts does a gal need? In my opinion, a lot. Circle skirts are my weakness for sure!

This shirt really does not photograph well at all. But its gorgeous! This whole outfit makes me think of sight seeing in Europe or something. I feel like if I were to go on a vacation right now, this is exactly what I'd wear. Something about it is very touristy and I can't place my finger on what it is exactly.

And in case any one is interested in what the soundtrack of my day is...

I would post the actual music video, but it is my least favorite music video of all time. Death Cab kept promoting it as this exciting live music video and frankly, it just wasn't very good. Quite the disappointment. At least the song is delightful...

Tricked Ya!

You know those days where your classes suck, but you just don't care because its perfect outside and everywhere you turn you are surrounded by friends? Yeah, well that was my day. High of 80 degrees, dreadful classes, but plenty of people to see and talk to. My life.

Outfit Details:
Shirt- H&M
Shorts- Forever 21
Flats- Old Navy

You see my beautiful burnt orange/ red shorts? Yes! These are tap shorts! My new favorite trend ever. They look like a skirt...

But they're not!!!! Fooled you! And everyone! All day long people complimented my skirt and I just smiled to myself because I know that these are in fact shorts. Which means I can run and prance about and still look completely lady-like. How delightful! Also funny thing about the top...Madeline has the same one from H&M, but her stripes are slightly smaller. And today we wore our matching tops. Yes, that's right folks...my roommate and I matched. Funny funny day y'all.

Ch-ch-chilly!

I did it! I left the house with the lovely milkmaid braids! I think the hairstyle is growing on me! My family even complimented me on them and I would have thought they would have hated it the most!

Outfit Details:
Sweater- Target
Dress- Charlotte Ruse
Tights- JcPenny
Shoes- Clarks

I'm not sure if this adorable sweater has made it on the blog yet. I wear it over top of my leotard and tights on my dance days, so I feel like its just become and extension of my body in some ways haha. But I love how practical and wonderful this sweater is because of its color and its warmth. But all practicality aside, its pretty adorable with the elbow patches!

This is not the first or last time this dress will appear here on the blog. It's been in my closet since the eighth grade and I will keep wearing it until it doesn't fit or it falls apart. Whichever happens first haha. Anyways, I'm off to do a little vintage shopping and see a performance showcase at my old high school! Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Who Needs a Boyfriend When You Got A Bike!

I love my bike. In probably an unhealthy way. I couldn't take my bike to school with me because its just a cute one speed cruiser and I go to a school on a hill. Bad idea. So I left Jolene (my bike's new name) at home and I often proclaim to Madeline how much I miss my bike. Every time its sunny but not too hot I long to ride my bicycle, but alas...

Outfit Details:
Sweater- Forever 21
Shorts- Forever 21
Belt- Forever 21
Flats- Old Navy
Scarf- Forever 21

I try to take the bike out whenever I can when I come home. And today is the PERFECT weather for going on a stroll.

Seriously y'all I love my bike. I've often said that I would like to live somewhere that I could just walk every where I needed or bike. Biking is so much better for the environment, its cheaper than gasoline, and its healthy exercise. The benefits of biking out weigh the benefits of cars to me. Ah, someday I'll be able to take Jolene (or another nicer bike once I acquire one) wherever I please. Its gonna be great.

But for now I'm going to be riding my mint green beauty in the wonderful sunshine!

My Life As Nancy Drew

Nancy Drew is one of my absolute favorite fashion/ literary icons. Who else can go scraping through attics, shimmy down a drain pipe, and chase after bad guys in penny loafers and a perfectly coiffed 'do? She found clothes to be practical and beautiful all at the same time. Who am I kidding though? She was written in the 1950's, so of course she always looked fabulous. But that still makes her no less of an inspiration for me.

Clothes don't have to be complicated. I mean when you really look at what I'm wearing it all comes down to a simple t-shirt and jeans. Plus one fabulous vintage scarf. Sometimes fashion is simple. And this is my simple lounge around the house and do nothing but get ready for a reunion with Madeline outfit. Yet something about this look reminds me of Nancy Drew. Maybe its the scarf. Maybe I'm just delusional.
Outfit Details:
Shirt- Forever 21
Jeans- New York and Co.
Scarf- Vintage
Flats- Old Navy

Oh! And to usher in spring a bit, I thought I'd paint my nails a lovely lilac. Normally if you know me well, you'd know that as soon as spring hits I'm all about the coral nail. Pretty much all spring and summer its coral nails for me. But seeing as I packed in a minute I left all my coral polishes at school and had to delve into Chloe's stash which prompted me to branch out and be a little more fashion forward. So yeah, I'm rocking the pastel nail trend. Maybe I'm not as classic as Nancy after all...

Creative Outift #2

Here's my not very creative outfit for the day. As many know, this is a frequent outfit of mine therefore rendering it as one of those no-brainer outfits I can put together in a pinch. Which is probably why I packed this dress.

Outfit Details:
Dress- Forever21
Tights- JcPenny
Sweater- Target
Shoes- Clarks
I have nothing better to do than hang out with Scout, who is one of the most unphotogenic dogs I've ever met. Every time I snap a picture, he does something like this...

Le temps de l'amour

Yesterday there was a terrible tornado which caused Madeline and I to have to pack in a record time of 15 minutes. Thus resulting in me not really having enough outfits for my week here at home. So outfit posts may be a little interesting this week, but I'm up for the challenge. I did manage to pack this gorgeous skirt though!

Outfit Details:
Shirt- Target (Its my Mom's)
Skirt- Vintage via etsy
Shoes- Old Navy

I got this skirt last year for Christmas and I couldn't be more in love with a vintage find. I absolutely adore gingham so this was an adorable 1950's find!

I was very inspired by Bridget Bardot and this look I found on pinterest a few weeks ago! Good thing I can make something of my pinterest addiction!

The Dog Days Are Over

Spring is certainly on its way! Today the weather is absolutely perfect! I'm on Spring Break next week and I simply can't wait. I'm not going anywhere terribly exciting, just going home, but its going to be so nice to dash around the city and make crafts with my family.

Outfit Details:
Sweater- Old Navy
Dress- Paul Frank
Shoes- Converse

Have I mentioned that I have the best roommate ever? Like seriously. Madeline makes hair bows out of vintage ties and sells them. So today I sported one of her cute cute cute hair bows! Check out her store here. That's my shameless plug for Madeline's etsy store. I love her and her crafty bows!

Not only did I go without tights today for the first time in forever, I also pulled out the trusty Converse! Sometimes its nice to wear tennis shoes. Goodness, I write things like that down and I realize how weird I sound. Haha oh well!

Make Out Girl and Other Stories

Outfit Details:
Shirt: New York and Co.
Shorts: Urban Outfitters
Tights: JcPenny
Shoes: Clarks
Sweater: Old Navy
Bag: Gifted/Thrifted

I'm back today with a less than exciting outfit post, but its a post nonetheless. Last night was the opening night of my show, Women and Wallace and it went really really well. The show is about one man and his various encounters with women in his life and how his mother's suicide affected those relationships. I'm playing Wendy, who serves as a drunk hook up buddy that he cheats on his girlfriend with. Basically I'm playing a character that is the COMPLETE opposite of myself. Also, its been a challenge because the guy is my best friend Isaac and we've had to get over the horror of making out with each other. Stage kisses are funny, but they are even funnier when you have to share them with someone that you are really close to. We just have one more show tonight and then the show is over!

Now enough about my play...can we just admire this gorgeous kelly green bag that I have recently acquired?! My friends, the Easterday sisters, thrifted this bag and gave it to me for my birthday. I have been obsessed with it because its the perfect size and its my favorite color. What a great gift! Anyways, I hope everyone's day is lovely!

Alleyways and Pay Phone Calls

I'm currently in this weird clothing funk, where every outfit I come up with just ends up looking blah and kind of boring. Not very me. But I'm hoping it gets better when spring time comes and I can play around with some new outfits and such.

Outfit Details:
Shirt: Target
Skirt: Urban Outfitters
Tights: JcPenny
Scarf: Forever21
Shoes: Clarks

Tonight is final dress rehearsal for my show, Women and Wallace. I'm so excited! Well, I hope everyone had a good weekend!
